Good shooting Terry, I wish you had yours' done and had it up there too. Great turn out that day and a lot planes participated in the flying competitions which included spot landings, drag races to see who could get off the water the fastest and a bomb drops. The Seabee's didn't come out and play, there were four or five tied to shore. The guy I talked to that flew this one in picture said it was a handful to fly. <br /><br />Dave, I think I had the least expensive plane there but I had a lot of people ask questions about Searey...young and young at heart. I really enjoyed talking to the youngsters about flying the Searey, they thought it was pretty cool.

Steve gave it a good try, however he was up against a bush pilot with a cub, and this guy has developed a method of bouncing the rear of the floats and shooting the plane into the air , and then just flying away.<br /><br />I'm guessing that he bounced the floats at 100 to 200 feet. Neat , really neat.

I've read about a guy with a homebuilt on floats who would go to full power with the elevators full down. The plane would nose dive and pop back up and he was flying. Supposedly from slow taxi to airborn in under 50'. I'd have to see it to believe it but according to the article, he never lost that race.

Robert, heck yeah, as Terry said I gave it a try. These guy's take it real serious...pump out fuel, unload everything from the plane that isn't bolted down, well maybe that isn't true either they were taking doors off too. Waves were breaking over the bow of the little searey on the water in the middle of the lake where we were doing our take-off runs and I had way to much fuel left on board for the ride home in the 28 gallon tank, I think I can do better next year....there's a few things I can leave home.
