To be honish, each has its high points. The nice thing about a floatplane is docking. The amphibian is definately sexier and more at one with the water. Either is better than land alone.

Jim... NorthWinds, or NorthWOODS? I think i have several hours in that plane in my logbook. In fact, I got my rating in it, if it's one of Don's planes. I have some ski plane time in the J-3, too. Somewhere I have video of an approach and landing on the snow.<br /><br />The wife's question was 'You live in Florida... Why do you need to know how to fly a SkiPlane?' My answer? Ya never know...
