Maybe geese, Dave. Here's the best I could make of that shot (and it's the best of six shots):<br /><br />They were V-ed up better when I first saw them. Flying from left to right. Long necks--could be geese, although the wingtips appear to be pointed more like ducks'.

Aw, sorry, Jeff! The only splash was at the west end of Lake Chesdin. It was almost dark by then and the water, glassy, so I didn't take time to reach for the camera. When we were out at the Outer Banks, the wind was about 15G25 across the beach, so it seemed prudent not to land there.
