Description: The Wright Brothers Memorial is a credit to their achievement with that famous liftoff photo recreated with a metal full scale replica that kids (or me) can climb on and make airplane engine noises next to a bronze of Orville.

    That stainless steel 'Flyer' is my favorite part of the monument. The story I heard is that the National Park Service didn't want it, but the state of North Carolina was pleased to have it--just a few yards outside the park boundary.
