    These look like spoil islands, Don, courtesy of your channel dredging tax dollars at play. They likely 'belong' to the Corpse of Engineers.

    Aha! Never occurred to me, Dan. I'll bet you're right. (I wish the Corps had dumped them a little farther from the channel, though.) <br /><br />Spoil islands. I'd never heard the term before--thanks! Googled it and found lots of hits.
