Right Now Don. Jump in! Fire her up and head off shore. I am guessing that at the point in time when this picture was taken you could have gotten her off shore enough to avoid the damage. You think so?

Yesterday I saw the same container ship--or a very similar one--passing the same island in the James River. This time, though, I had a better vantage. The normal wake was streaming off the hull, but there was a second, phantom wake way off to the side, where the river bottom rises abruptly toward the islands.<br /><br />I shot these through the canopy, so there are some reflections--the whitish blur on the right in the top photo and the orange key float in the lower one.<br /><br />In the lower photo, the leading edge of the phantom wake is almost abreast of where we were picnicking last summer.
