Ken,<br />This is the old navy P2V built by Douglas. Note the long tail cone for the MAD gear. It was the Navy's front line sub hunter before the P3.

My Dad flew the P2V during his Navy career. I remember it as being HUGE, when I was a young lad. I visited a cockpit of one converted to a water bomber, recently, at the Ocala airport, and could not believe how small it now looked. It was a neat bird, with jet engines that were only used for takeoff assistance.

I'll bet the ride in the plexiglass nose would be a hoot. Especially when flown on the deck of the ocean. These planes were used for anti submarine warfare. I've got some neat pictures with them dropping torpedoes.
