    Dan,<br />Anticipating the (possible) end of my building project, I wonder about the Calloosahatchee River and the canal that leads East to the Big O? Can you land in the canal? Would it be legal? safe? (Aside from the Locks, of course.)

    There is at least one seaplane base on the river, Frank. There are also some manatee restrictions (especially around the 41 bridge). For a splash in at Pinchers Crab Shack (by the bridge), seaplanes landed in the middle of the river and taxied slowly in to shore. Safe? Hmm...that depends on the day and pilot.
