Tom, just keep the plane 'on the step' until below 5mph and you're safe on that one! As for buzzing the cop, I did that once myself. Was approaching low over some mangroves and as I cleared them where the water started - just about to land - there was a sherrif's boat hugged up to the trees 20' away! Pointed my tail toward his boat and aborted the landing.

Captain Don, my thinking is if the local comunity and governing authority is so uptight that they feel they must imposed a 25 MPH limit, there is no way they would entertain seaplane operations. ' I performed a precautionary landing' that's my story and I'm sticking to it! This photo was taken during the spot landing contest at the Clear Lake Splash-in. The sheriffs were there to keep the peace.
