Description:
Here it is afloat and under tow. It appears to be tail-down here, and I think they didn't get the fuselage proportions right. When they powered up with the too-small engines, the best they could manage was 16 mph, and it never got up onto the step. They were very discouraged--after all that work!
But they're going to try again next year. Jim Poel, the chief test pilot, said they'll extend the step a foot or so aft and see if that does the trick. It might--and the big engines will make a huge difference, too.
