Description: Alaska Journey Peter.
Hello to our Searey friends. I am back. Another dream, the journey along the pacific coast called the INSIDE PASSAGE to Alaska is done. It turned almost into a nightmare. Total distance was 1500 nm. This trip turned out very different from all others before. After almost reached Anchorage I had to decide to return, because of a gear up landing on a paved runway and ongoing hostile weather conditions. In Alaska and Canada, all depends strongly on the weather conditions. Strong winds, turbulences, fog, fuel issue, survival gear, unpredictable MVFR and IFR conditions, low/high tide, currents and grizzly bears who not only like berries. All that will certainly test your stress level.
The decision was right. Many experienced pilots I met died during that time with their passengers in fatal crashes. It was reported, that never before so many crashes happened there.
However, when the weather was occasionally good, the landscape was just gorgeous. The people very helpful. Finally, the Adventure was worth to undertake. I would have missed it. In case, you need some advise for yr trip there, I can help.

Peter

What a photo! I <I>really </I>want to fly around that bend--and at the same time I'm looking at those clouds hanging ominously on the mountains. It pretty much captures my own desire to fly the inside passage some day--and my anxiety.<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or &gt; missing in user HTML. Please fix the HTML.</font> -->

Yes! <I>Much </I>better than this brief initiation on Lake Michigan--and I had a Viking guide to help me through that one:<P><img src="inline/20080-OnLMich_0005_t_h.jpg" alt="OnLMich-0005-t-h"><!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or &gt; missing in user HTML.
