Description: It’s hard to keep the Catherders penned up (or down). Jon and Gary skirted the rain and low clouds on the coast to come back down the center of the state. Gary kept mumbling something about a “great circle” routing being different in a SeaRey.

    You people disgust me!
All this flying about and taking Life-magazine-quality pictures has got to stop!
I'm not picking on you alone, Dan. Its almost everybody posting pictures on this site.
You all should be ashamed of yourselves.
Honestly! Is there some secret Searey training school on how to take amazing quality and composition photos or is is some natural phenomenon?
When I start flying my Searey, will I suddenly be endowed with a instinctual ability to take wonderful pictures too?
Well, I hope you're all happy. These days I look at my previously cherished pictures and feel woefully inadequate. I guess I'll need to get a prescription for Prozac or something. In the meantime I'll have to get by eagerly awaiting more of your pictures.
It's not a sudden endowment, Tony. When I saw these I grabbed my little 3.2 Kodak and went up. For some reason, they just don't look the same. And, for me, flying and trying to get a steady shot is a lot harder than it looks.

It's an option, Dennis. You have to order the kit with the electronic (organic computer) flight stabilization system and photographic implement enhancements. You also have to suspend good judgment while shooting because it is highly probable that your insurance policy specifically prohibits taking pictures below 1000' agl (for good reason, I'd say).

I can see how an auto pilot would come in handy when doing anyting but flying the Searay. I got crossed up yesterday going to VA when Cinn center gave me a squawk code my xponder wouldn't accept (actually, I couldn't understand the controller, even after three repeats). Before I knew it I had lost 500 feet and was going 90 degrees from my planned track. I was too embarrassed to talk to them after that so I just requested VFR. My little Kodak is more complicated than my Garmin 327A, which probably explains why, when I try to take pictures from the plane, both pictures and flying turn out lousy.

Dennis, you came to VA? You should consult with the VA squadron before entering our airspace. Hope you didn't have any problems with the storms.

Storms? What storms? I was in Danville. Left around 1:30 or 2. Bumpy ride back, even at 5500 feet.

We got nailed by a thunderstorm around 4pm. You should make a trip up to Claytor lake sometime. We have some pretty cool Searey play areas.

Sorry about that, Tony. Remember that it is not just the quality of the picture that counts, it's the story it conveys. I'll bet your cherished pictures would be just excellent with the stories you could tell!

Speaking of stories, when are we going to be treated to another tale?

I thought the shots of the inside of your wing were pretty cool. Maybe you are cut out to be a tech photographer, rather than a scenic one.

Ha Ha Ha, Thats funny, Dennis.
So my best shots are the ones where I blindly stuck a camera through a hole and repeatedly pressed the button.
So maybe I should take all my pictures with my eyes closed!
I'll try that. Get some of that artistic flair going.
