Description: Back during the dark ages, or when I was in high school, this was the Ball Marine Laboratory. The laboratory, affiliated with Florida State University and now known as the FSU Coastal and Marine Laboratory, was my home away from home for one summer’s science camp. Now, before you figure out that I was a nerd, remember how easily confused a teenager can be, especially if there are sexual innuendoes involved (“Ball Lab? That sounds like fun!”).

I should have known better, of course, because I was assigned to investigate the iodine content of sea salt aerosols using an old Anderson Impactor. It turned out okay because there were plenty of cute coeds in shorts and bikinis to help collect those elusive aerosols. They had no interest in high school kids, but the scenery was just fine. The experience did have a life long impact, making me appreciate the potential for aerosols to form after every flush of the commode.

Dan, we knew you were a nerd after the picture of sneakers and black sox...<br />But you are in good company, when I asked my wife if flying a seaplane made me sexy, she said 'You were a dork in a sports car, now you are just a dork in a plane.'<br />
