Marlette Lake is officially closed to ALL motorized vehicles, but by asking the head ranger for permission to fly up there for an hour to take photos, he appreciated our reasons for going and said, 'Yes.'

Postcard perfect, John. I'm betting the ranger would be proud.

He was the same ranger that shined his flashlight in my face the night I was sleeping with the Searey in his protected harbor/boat ramp when wind and waves came up and I could not takeoff from Tahoe. Maybe he remembered me.

That ranger is all right! He might like a SeaRey ride.

John, do you find water ops at 7800 feet difficult?

The 914 thinks it is at sea level as the turbo is still making 40 in.Hg manifold pressure and the Searey feels the same. The TAS across the water would be higher, but with a little headwind, it doesn't seem to make any difference. As I pitch my prop for 7000 density altitude, I actually get more thrust out of the engine prop near that altitude than my airport's 4750 altitude. It gave about 200 rpm more at 7800 feet than when I took off at 4750 MSL (same day).

Carolyn had the food on the beach blanket just out of the frame on the right, but the Searey flying has been cutting into my wine consumption!

    Oh stop you whining,
we all have the same problem, but not in the same turbo charged environment
