Description:
In 1954 Col. Gracy was a young Air Force cadet learning to fly at Spence Field in Moultrie, Georgia. It is now the home of Maule Air, the company that builds the Maule. I left a bunch of money down here after they did an annual inspection for me.
One of Col. Gracy’s memories is of meeting his parents and going into town for lunch. Walking down the street he spotted an Ace of Airplanes, the famous Bevo Howard. Instead of being in awe of such a hero, Col. Gracy’s father greeted him as an old acquaintance. As it turned out, before Bevo became a great pilot, he drove trucks for Frank’s dad at Texaco.
Just another of life’s little coincidences…..

Maule is a great company with good family history. My father had a 7 with the 235. It was a great plane. He offered to let me get my pilots License in it and like a fool I declined (scared of the tail wheel). So I paid out the ying-yang to fly 172s and now own two tail wheelers…. Go figure. Dan, I hope they bought you luch at least!
