Description: This is the first bulletin announcing Georgian Gaggle 2008 to be held at the “Silver Lake Cottage Resort” in late June (off season rates!)
Although the beach will only comfortably handle 10 SeaReys, Parry Sound airport is only 2 minutes away!
Last summer’s pot luck barbeques and evening campfires were a great addition to this fine Georgian Bay gathering.

Sounds great, John. As I'm still not used to long distance flights, I would only consider flying my single-seat Stingray there from Maine if I could wing along with another Searey.

Mark, meet us in Virginia and we'll fly the rest of the way together.

    Hey Mark,
There are several planning to come from the north eastern US. You should be able to join up with a Searey for the border crossing. Perhaps several will join this thread for discussion about the trip up and back..

Count us in.... My son Kendall and I will be there.. I think this makes us the longest running participants in the Gaggle... Fourth year in a row and we also come the furtherest, or does Rud;y get that one. I asked Kendall (age 14) if he wanted to go and he replied ' Well, yeeeaaahhh.. Daa. why wouldn't we go? ' Thats the coolest thing we do all summer... I'll contact the Lodge and sign up for the same room as last year since I got pretty good at finding it in the dark on the way back from Limas place.
BOB TOERNER Attachments:

Of course you know we'll be there, # 3 please! Yes I must admit Bob your autopilot seemed to work even better once alcohol was added. BTW the plane will be done, Guaranteed!

    Hey, what a great response!
I have told Silver Lake that I will be juggling cottages in order to fit eveyone in (happilly!)
You might not get your precise request but let me know and I'll try to work it out back channel.
(Bob was that cottage #1?)

Bob Toerner - Jan 06,2008 Viewers | Reply
John... Cottage one / three and then 5 are my preferences.

John Robert Dunlop - Jan 06,2008 Viewers | Reply
    OK folks,
I am recording everybody's preferences.
I have already enough early requests (back channel) to allocate 8 of the 9 cottages! There is still plenty of room at the resort but some people are going to have to double up if everyone comes who says they are coming. For example, the large cottage #10 has four bedrooms. We will likely have to put either two couples or four singles in that bungalow before the dust settles.

Lee Coulman - Jan 06,2008 Viewers | Reply
    John
If you assign Cottage #7 to Daryle L. Mon-Wed and the Coulmans from Thurs-Sat, would that work? We had that cottage last year up in the mosquito patch, but still close to the party.

No, Darrell & Linda are there all week and may have Linda's friend Carol with them. You are a better match to switch out with Rudy and Veronica. We'll get it sorted. Don't worry..

Maybe lets take the Sparrow Lake one and follow the trent severn all the way north/west to big chute, over to honey harbour, north along the shoreline and then back to Silverlake.

Looks good John. I've not said anything as I have a lot of TLC to do on VMU before the gaggle, and after we get back from Baja. Dave King and I replaced all my fuel lines in the fall after a close call with spraying fuel around the ass end while taxiing out of the water. Lynn and I hope to attend...by land or by air....and Turtle Cove will be available for anyone who routes our way. I'll keep you posted. We plan on returning home at the end of Feb.

Great Dave! I thought a trip down to beautiful Elmhurst Lodge for lunch might be a nice Gaggle route. Their grass strip is excellent as is the food! Then, I thought it wouldn't be much further if we visited Picton too. The Sand Banks are a nice spot. How many SeaReys can we get on your lawn?! Do we think we could refuel at Turtle Cove or should we do it at Elmhurst?
I continually tweak the routes. The magenta colour indicates a possible 'refueled leg.'
Dave Edward - Jan 19,2008 Viewers | Reply
Elmhurst waterfront is not very SeaRey friendly. The grass strip has ample adjacent parking. AvGas is available at the dock, so a jerry can shuttle would probably be best with the short drive from TC to Ultramar 91 octane...no ethanol added.
I would say that we could handle up to a dozen planes on the grass up from my ramp.

I have just updated the attendance list (above.)
There is lots of room for more people and planes. (Several SeaRey projects just won't be ready in time.)
(2 weeks from Monday) we'll be arriving at beautiful Silver Lake!

Oops! Forgot that when I delete one of my posts all the sub-posts get deleted too.
Sorry!

Might as well take the opportunity to mention that new routes and attendees names are added from time to time without causing a new post to be highlighted. You'll just have to check these two items from time to time..

I have sent this information off to everyone who expressed an interest in attending the June 23-28 Georgian Bay Gaggle. If I have missed anyone here it is again on Splash & Dash.
We have now formally placed deposits on all nine Silver Lake cottages. There are potentially 12 SeaReys scheduled to arrive during the week of June 23 to 28. Yet with the airport only two miles away we have lots of room for more aircraft and there is actually room at the Resort for five more couples!
This year there are more Gaggle routes that investigate many new scenic places including the Bruce Peninsula, Killarney, the French and Pickerel Rivers and Prince Edward County on Lake Ontario. With less turning points the routes are easier to program and we have adopted a less structured approach to route selection than in past years. You fly what you want, when you want and with whom you want..As we discovered last summer, evenings around Doug’s roaring fire beside our private beach bring each day to a fitting close.
For those of you who have left a deposit with Dorothy there is little to do but get your planes ready and check the Gaggle website from time to time for new information.
http://www.seareycanada.com/GAGGLE.htm
If you have not checked the site recently you will find new buttons that open pages providing detailed information helpful to those coming up from south of the border. Check out:
“Silver Lake” – Information about the resort.
“Webcam” – The Resort’s webcam of the (frozen) beach area!
“CNK4 Wx – Parry Sound Airport webcam and weather information.
“CLOTHING” – The perennial Gaggle clothing of better quality at a lower price!
“PHOTOS” – From four previous Georgian Gaggles.
“FLT PLAN” – A rendition of the Canadian ICAO-type flight plan or itinerary.
“BORDER” – Answers to most questions concerning crossing the border in a SeaRey.
“PATTERN” – Flight and satellite photos of CNK4 and Silver Lake with a suggested traffic pattern overlay.
“SAFETY” – Some of the lessons learned from past Gaggles that will help make this one safe and fun.
"ITEMS" - More info on the Gaggle and what you should consider bringing with you.

If you are still thinking of coming to Gaggle 2008 just drop me a line when the sky looks clear and we’ll work out the logistics for you…

Killarney Mountain Lodge (courtesy of Dennis V.)<!-- >'">
' or > missing in user HTML.
