I flew to from Chesterfield County Airport (KFCI), south of Richmond, to Suffolk Executive (KSFQ) today to help set up for this weekend's EAA Regional Fly-In. About halfway there, the AWOS at Wakefield was saying 'visibility four miles, haze.' Up at 1500 feet (because it's in the Dismal Swamp, after all) the viz was pretty good, considering it was summer in southeast Virginia. But soon I could see this smoke from a big fire south of Lake Drummond (and pretty close to the Blackwater compound)

Aha! Blackwater...so they were probably firing the shoulder launch missiles whose smoke trails appear at your 10 and 11 o'clock positions?
