A SeaRey on the beach raises a question: what is the minimum (safe) size for alighting and takeoff of a SeaRey? (Assume solo, no wind, 912S)

Have you ever seen the pond (puddle?) at Gator Field? Assume two people, a bit of wind, a 912, and Kerry flying.

I've seen it, and it must have been a very light passenger, and a very much lighter Kerry, in a very light Searey. I understand the pond is so small, that when it gets low, the locals just spit in it to bring the water level back up.

Here it is, Frank, at the Florida Flying Gators Airpark (3FD4). It is a tiny little thing, but Kerry says he has landed and departed from the pond in a SeaRey. Kerry had to land in the pond with a passenger after the gear got stuck up. The clear approach let him almost drag the grass getting into it (the water line has receded during past droughts). After fixing the gear, he ditched the passenger and departed solo in one straight shot. He told me he was airborne 20' before the water's edge.

Gator Field is where Kerry took me for a demo ride in July,1999. I asked him about the pond, and he said something like, 'A SeaRey has been in there, but we'll go to another lake today.' I think the water was probably up to the outer dark ring then.

Thanks for the photo Dan. Even with a drought-reduced size, this is incredible. But then, Kerry knows how to fly a SeaRey. Still I bet he wasn't approaching the puddle at his recommended 70-80mph. Gives new meaning to the term puddle jumper, doesn't it?I'd like to add Gator Field to my future destinations, for now, I'm sticking to 5000' at FMY.<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or > missing in user HTML.
