Description:
Pretty little farms cradled in the low hills soon had me longing for a flight plan deviation. We were passing within 20 miles of the old family farm. I seriously thought of abandoning my flight leader to get a fix. Oh, to wander through those grassy fields, to cross the rambling creeks, to lie in the shade of the big trees on the hilltop and watch the clouds flow past one more time.
“Country roads, take me home, To the place I belong, West Virginia, mountain mama Take me home, country roads.”
“Oh yeah, that’s what I’m talking about! Heck, the hay is probably in and I could just land in the flat bottom by the big stream! Good bye and good luck, Richard, I’m going back!”
“Don’t you do it! That’s not the way your mama raised you! You told Richard you’d follow him. You told Randy you’d bring him his new airplane. You have responsibilities. You have obligations. Be a man!”
“Drat. Well, Georgian Bay is a great consolation prize.”
