That is one nasty looking cloud, Markku. Was it associated with a thunderstorm? A frontal system? What makes such a bad cloud in Finland?

During summertime we have constant flow of low/hight/low/high... pressures and temperatures going all over Finland. These comes mainly from south-west. This makes our weather quite variable during late summer. Thunderstorms are part of this mixed weather. This makes sometimes (quite often) long crosscountry flights in VFR quite challenging.

The same goes for the other Nordic countries. The low pressure systems are mainly energized by the lukewarm Gulf Stream waters as they progress across the North Atlantic towards us.
