Nice place! This kind of roofing is an old favourite in our parts, Bruno. It's the standard roofing for Norwegian 'winter farms', where farmers have their livestock in the summer above the timberline in order to exploit the greenery at 3000 feet altitude. It's also a classy roofing for your average mountain cottage. As you say, they don't mow it. From time to time, you need to remove small trees and bushes.
