Description:
Taking a cue from the success of the big boats, Kerry moved the SeaRey demos down the lake to Wendt’s lakefront restaurant. Real seaplane operations could be conducted without the nonsense inflicted by petty bureaucracy.

Sounds like base bureaucracy diminished the OSH experience? How did it compare to SNF?

Frank, I drove to the seaplane base at SNF this year, but it looked to me as if it had no bureaucracy at all. There's a nice beach and a huge concrete ramp for amphibians and a large pasture in which to park and camp. At Oshkosh (96WI), there is a small ramp, but they've never let me use it. And 'parking' means being towed out and tied up to a buoy in the lagoon. The SPB and the campground are very nice, though, shady and tranquil.

One thing about the Oshkosh SPB that strikes me as peculiar is that the parent organization is the Experimental Aircraft Association, yet the SPB managers appear to favor certified seaplanes over experimentals and large over small. I'd like it to be the other way around.
