Description:
At the extreme northwest tip of the lower 48, you have to turn the corner to stay near land. The weather seemed to take a sharp turn for the better too. The way south looked much better than getting here.
“Why? Why was the fog filling the Strait, but not as much out on the ocean?”
“I haven’t the foggiest.”
“Give me a break. I’m thinking the warm air is being funneled out to sea down the strait as the cool Pacific water is being flushed in with the tide.”
“Whatever.”
'’Beetling cliffs, ragged reefs, and huge masses of rock cut by the waves abound on every side.’ That is the way English explorer Captain James Cook described this area in 1778.”
“The cliffs don’t look so ‘beetling’ to me.”
“That’s because you don’t know what it means. Beetling means jutting out, hanging over, and that is just what they look like.”
“Then why didn’t you just say that!”

Good going, Dan! And your internal dialog makes it clear once again that flying a small boat has its joys and its hazards. We can get a lot closer to weather safely, and we can get in awfully deep, too. It's seductive--and oh so much fun.

Very nice travelogue. Do the voices sound different? Do they start right away, or only after a few hours flying? Be careful out there.

Oh, I hear a lot of voices, Eric. They are pretty much constant if I forget to take my medication.

'My quest has taken me through the physical, the metaphysical, the delusional and back...' OK, so John Nash didn't actually give this speech (or any speech) when he accepted his Nobel prize, but Russell Crowe's speech seemed appropriate (from 'A beautiful Mind').
