Description: As moist air from the Pacific pushes up against the Olympic Mountains, it gets squeezed out. Quillayute, WA, on the wet side of the mountains, gets a lot of rain. At an average of 104.5 inches per year, it gets the most of any U.S. city in the lower 48. This allows for a rarity in temperate climate zones, a coastal rainforest.
