More, more. Just about time I really get into the flow, I run out of pictures!!

Sorry, Dennis. Ten or fifteen a day is about my processing limit.

It always amazes me how knowledgeable you are about the various areas you fly over. Have you ever been a teacher, or thought about it?

Dan Nickens - Sep 16,2008 Viewers | Reply
I'm not knowledgeable, Mark, I just have books..lots of books. I am way too impressed with teachers (except Bret, of course) to ever aspire to that lofty status.

I worried about this all night, Mark. You really shouldn't take any of my ramblings seriously.

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm just repeating stuff from my old 'Roadside Geology of (insert state)' books, occassionally updated along the way with some Wikipedia stuff. To the extent that it is 'knowledge,' it is mostly out-of-date and completely surficial.

There. I've come clean. My career as a politician is ruined. Since I can't be a teacher either, I'll just have to stick to flying for fun.

Quit worrying, Dan. Anyway, we're all just big chimps with writing.

I wouldn't worry about ruining your political career, Dan. As long as you can swing your head left and right while speaking, while reading the teleprompters, you'll be all set.

The gorge at Twin Falls is really spectacular. You approach the town over the bridge. We've stayed there several times. Next time we promise ourselves a visit to the falls themselves.

Ah, but you're getting ahead of me, Chris. These are not the 'real' Twin Falls. They are coming in the next installment....(stay tuned).

I keep putting more quarters in the slot but no more pictures are coming up...

    Dan,
Over this rugged country did you limit flying to early morning or was it turbulent, or both?

Dan Nickens - Sep 17,2008 Viewers | Reply
What rugged country, Frank? Out over the edge of the canyon was nothing but smooth plain. But, there is some rugged country ahead (in next week's adventure) and it best flown when the air is smooth (as is the early morning). Sometimes, however, when the wind is light, it's not too bad even in the afternoon. Check the winds at airports in the mountains. If it is forcast to be more than 10 or 15, it's best to stay in the hotel.

Hey Dan, great shots, is Ann with you or did she stay back home in FL?

Dan Nickens - Sep 17,2008 Viewers | Reply
Ann stayed at home to keep Zach company this trip, Dave.
