I'm guessing your water run was about 25' in the 25 mph wind and 2' waves, Dave.

Man Oh Man Dan....if it hadn't been for the destination and that Dave K was orbiting o/h, I would have aborted. Dave's comments on the t/.o was ..' Wow...Oh wow...You Ok ?...Oh good ! '<br />I had a 5 gal plastic container full of 91 octane strapped in the right seat. Not great company on a x-country...until you run into 40 mph head winds. Dave landed with about ;15 mins of fuel remaining...not a good idea.<br />The 'A ' hull was magnificent in that crappy water...lots of spray over the windshield.<br />Lynn would not have been a happy camper.

Two-foot waves, Dave? John and Carol & I got badly pounded, taking off in waves less than that last summer with our C hulls at Killarney. The C's bluff bow bashed billows, banging, battering, busting breakers. Would an A have glided over them? John's ELT went off (so he knows it works). Mine didn't.

Dave King estimated the waves to be about 3' high with long streaks in the water. I had to taxi over to the light house...got soaked...bilge pump working...water over the windshield so had my canopy partially open to see. If I reduced power, I weather cocked into the troughs. Not pretty !! Went down Hay Bay until I got a little protection from the southerly point. The waves were very short crested so I got up on the step very quickly and bounced from crest to crest...about 5 bounces and on the last one, popped 30* of flap and got the cushion effect into the air.You guys would have had a ball...probably doing some touch and goes just to make me feel bad.
