Description:
Storms along stalled frontal boundary lined up to south. I had to deviate east before turning due south at Pawhuska to sneak through an opening. The rush to get to Tulsa before dark meant bypassing some nice lakes, including this one (Skiatook Lake).
Daily Trip Log
Pueblo (PUB) to small reservoir near Melon (splash) Small reservoir to Dodge City (DDC), KS, 3.8 hours DDC to Kaw Lake (splash x 2) Kaw Lake to Pogue (OWP), OK, 4.1 hours
For 7.9 hours of mostly flat flying.
“Good progress for headwinds and weather deviation.”
“Fair progress if you consider a straight line from Pueblo to Tulsa is only 418 nm. At 70 knots, that would be 6 hours. With almost 8 hours logged, that is only 75% efficient.”
“I suppose you would have just flown through the storms to make better time.”
“No, but I wouldn’t have flown circles around hay fields either.”
“Sometimes you just have to stop and smell the hay.”
“No, but sometimes you do whether you have to or not.”
