That's almost romantic! Nice to see a lawn without snow on it.

Dave E.<br />No, I have horrible brakes.<br />You are right, it is very steep.<br />Getting up the hill is easy.<br />This photo shows the more successful, less exciting method of getting back in the water (the first time we used two people as brakes instead of the truck and rope - it didnt work out so well).<br />

Jeff has an awesome beachfront playland. <br />But it is a bit steep, I'll need to get good brakes for the summertime so I can join all the parties!

I know how you feel Tony. My brakes were virtually non existent when I purchased VMU. The slope down my lawn isn't as extreme as Jeff's....but I had to shut the engine off for the final plunge down my rubber ramp...into the water...and then start up and be on my way. Dave King ( God bless him ) designed and installed differential brakeing after I spent a couple of $$ and bought new pads and drums. Works like a damn...until they get wet.

Rick, don't confuse Jeff. He still thinks Virginia is a southern state.

Hey, I'm a Virginia Boy and I consider myself a southerner. In fact, my VaTech class ring has the Confederate flag one it. They took it off the year after I graduated.

Sorry, Jeff, but VT was right to take the flag off. Here's how I know (one of my favorite stories--sorry if I've already inflicted it on you): <P>I got my SES at Jim Kirk's in South Carolina. One day we were having lunch with a guy who worked for him, at a kind of country diner near his airport. Jim and the other guy got into an animated conversation about local politics. After a while I said something that the other guy didn't agree with. He glared at me and leaned halfway across the table.<P>"You're from <I>Richmond</I>, ain't ya."<P>Oh-oh. I knew I was in trouble by the way he spit the word out: "RICH. mond." And it was a statement, not a question.<P>"yyYes," I said, fearing the worst. <P>"You <I>Yankees</I>," he hissed, "don't know <I>nuthin'</I>!"<P><BR>Jim and I both laughed (although maybe for different reasons) and that was that. But I was glad the guy didn't know that I'd grown up in Ohio.<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or > missing in user HTML. Please fix the HTML.</font> -->

Dammit professor, you didn't have to admit it ! Now we know! I had an employee who was born in Boston, but he wouldn't admit to being a Yankee, simply considered it a birth defect!

Charlie's right about NH, Vic. I thought about putting it in the list--and VT and PA. But including them would have required listing all 50, and that was giving me a headache. Is OH more 'south' than PA? Maybe, but IN is definitely 'south' of IL and maybe even of MO, which some people insist is farther 'south' than AR... There's no end to it.

Now that I think about it, I should have ranked states according to seaplane friendliness. That's the culture of this website. So AK is probably #1 and PA might be #50. <br /><br />And what about seaplane-friendly countries? Canada is probably well up in that list. The US is pretty good. Australia? Italy? Norway? Finland? Is North Korea at the bottom?
