Description:
The airplane was already back snuggly in the hangar when I noticed the bright sky. It was well past sunlight. Too late I remembered that today the moon is the closest it will be all year long (only 221,560 miles instead of its average of 238,855 miles). That 17,000 miles of closeness makes for a moon that is up to 30% brighter than other full moons. What a missed opportunity! I was ready to push the airplane back out until I remembered some silly holiday celebration scheduled for the night. Geez. What better way to celebrate the season than flying off into the moonlight? I suppose that wouldn’t be much of a celebration for those waiting at home to be socialized. Sigh.

Sorry you had to go party Dan. Great photo. Are they geese or gators in the water?

I think the geese went south for the winter, Frank, and the gators are buried in the mud trying to stay warm. The high today is only 68F. Global warming indeed!
