Description: When a predator appears overhead, a basic instinct is follow the flock. The leader of the flock probably figures he has a pretty good buffer behind him.

Great set of images Dan. Got the idea to count the birds, to relate it to what all the Seareys ever built would look like. (The alternative being to go fly a Cessna 150 over smoked in country from the bushfires here in Australia).

189 birds give or take a neck and beak or tailfeather. Guessing 400 something Seareys flyable today based on my kit being 475. More than twice the birds in this picture. That would be quite a thing to see ... with the leader of the pack thinking 'now, if I can just get to the fuel bowser first...'

When you sign up for one of the Great Aussie SeaRey Adventures, Marty, you'll get a good approximation of this scene. It's really, really hard to get SeaRey pilots to fly in a straight and orderly fashion. Just ask Commander Loneragan some day and watch for the far away stare......
