    This original design was destroyed shortly after the picture was taken when a freak tornado struck Robbinsville, NJ. The tornado dropped a Cessna 150 on top of the amphib, and both burned.

    I have no idea what it was, but it looks like it might have had radial engines at one time. There seems to be no step in the bottom of the hull. The FAA says there's no such N-number.

    This is a one of a kind Byroncraft A-1, built by Charlie Byron. He was president of my local EAA Chapter 176 around 1970. Seems like he was a real interesting guy, though I never met him. See the attached article for more details.      Attachments:
