Description:
I got a late start after discovering what a Rotax feels like on takeoff when it's emulating a 912 with the prop pitched for a 914. Can't get techinical about that here, but it was an easy fix.
When I got to the entrance route to SFQ, a big Coast Guard something-or-other was doing fly-bys and about a dozen arrivals were holding for it. Three or four were holding over the Dismal Swamp. Two were holding over the water tower. At least two were holding over the warehouse. I was approaching the warehouse along with three or four other airplanes, all coming from different directions. Eventually the Coast Guard went back to Elizabeth City and the rest of us got things sorted out. Several radio voices seemed to be pitched about an octave higher than normal, and one was speaking so fast that even he probably couldn't keep up with it.
On the ground, the pace was more comfortable and schmoozy, and it seemed as though almost everyone either already knew almost everyone else, or at least knew someone else who did.
I didn't know the builder of this pretty Neiuport, but I'd like to.
