Dave, Is your windsock on a bouy or is it a post/pier mount? Nice that it is out in the open and will get onobstructed wind readings. Solar power?

    Hi Bill,
It is mounted on a 12' aluminum mast which is welded to an aluminum truck size rim...and tire. There are 3' of mast below the water line, which has a 5 lb weight hanging from it to counteract the wind effect tilting the main mast. The whole unit is anchored by a 15 lb weight on the bottom....attached to a wire ...attached to the tire rim.
The whole shebang gets removed in the fall.....and yes, solar powered lights.

The lighted feature is for night landings? or so the boats don't hit it at night?

Night landings on water? I don't think so.

It's about damn time, Dave! Dave King and I are sick and tired of not knowing which way the wind is blowing for those night landings.

Mainly for legality and the boaters.....for Don, I'll install underwater sequence flashing lights.

You can always tell where the surface is on night water landings by the glow of the alligators eyes.
