Description: Lake Rotoiti, Nelson Lakes National Park, New Zealand. Unfortunately bureaucrats the world over are alike in their lack of common sense. A seaplane can be launched from the boat ramp or fly low over the water, but water landings are not allowed. Buggah!

That's strange Ed. I've had my SeaRey up to 10k with no complaints and I've only got a 912.

Absolutely breathtaking pictures John!

Great pictures John. It sure looks like our Southeast Alaska except that our water is greener and our trees are darker and don't look as soft. How high are you with these? Beautiful country!

Lake level is about 2000' with the mountain peaks at 6000'. We were at about 4500' with the 912S. It does remind me of southern Alaska on a clear day. The higher peaks are in the south of the south island of New Zealand, which is a bit far for a day trip in a Searey. We still want to check out some of the Lord of the Rings filming locations and do some whale spoting. The lack of pollution and clear southerly winds direct from Antartica help to provide some crystal clear views. The stars really jump out at night, but I don't recognize any of them except the Southern Cross.
