What a screwy looking exhaust trail! Without the earlier shots, this would look like something in a comic book. The light is amazing, Judy. Very cool photos!

Thanks Don. Yes, it almost looked like it was going across the sky, instead of going up into space!! I was thinking I'll never get to even see the Rocket, because there was heavy cloud cover right in that area; then magically it was gone, and there was the Rocket taking off!! Plus, there is hardly any information given out about the lift off, so I was watching the news trying to get a handle on when it was lifting off.....I instead went outside, and figured it would take off right across the street by my good friend & neighbor's house; which it did. The shuttle takes off further to the left of this particular picture. This particular Rocket made a lot of noise also, sometimes we can hardly hear them! Judy

I watched this on the way to MacDill AFB this am. Didn't know what it was but figured it had to come from Canaveral. What a fabulous line it drew and pastel colors that were amazing. I was really wishing I had my camera with me. Thanks for the reminder.

The window of my office looks south to the Canaveral firing range. I sat back in my easy chair with binoculars while watching and listening to the real-time coverage of the launch on spaceflightnow.com. When the rocket disappeared from view, mission control reported it was over 200 mi. down range doing 10,000 MPH! The long range TV coverage showed the peeling off of the SRBs in two stages. I could not pick them up with the binocs like I can with Shuttle launches.
