Don, you seem to find the neatest places. Have you flown your SR up to <br />Tangier I?

Don Maxwell - Nov 09,2009   Viewers  | Reply
Yep. It's an pleasant ride from KFCI, although you have to watch out for the Restricted areas--go south and east of one and stay under another to land. And I hear they've taken the hump out of the runway.

If anyone hasn't visited Tangier Island, nor eaten at Hilda Crockett's House, you're missing a great experience. No menu's, no price lists, no choices other to come in, pay the flat fee, and enjoy Eastern Shore Cooking delights. (No steamed crabs though.)Can't say as I remember the runway hump, only the lack of taxi way, and even I can manage the short walk into town. Bring cameras.<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or &gt; missing in user HTML. Please fix the HTML.</font> -->

That sounds like fun. Does the airport have a designator?

Frank A. Carr - Nov 09,2009   Viewers  | Reply
    Yes Dennis, it;s TGI

Don, I crop dusted out of the for several years. When it was called Kellam Field. Still looks the same as it did in the 70's.

Rex--good to hear from you again! I may have to come down there and give your house a good SeaRey buzz sometime. <br /><br />I think Gordon Campbell works hard to keep the field looking that way. His wife said she went through 130 hot dogs on Sunday. There were 39 airplanes on the field when we got there and someone said the total count was 55 for the day.

I KNEW you'd miss the SeaRey, Rex. How fast will that Lancair go on the step?

Don,<br />Campbell filed has been on my must go to list for a while now. Sorry I wasn't in town to fly over there with you guys. Maybe I'll get a chance before the weather gets too bad.

Don Maxwell - Nov 12,2009   Viewers  | Reply
This was my first time there, Bill, but I'll be going back. It's a nice, laid-back place. There's nothing there, really, except airplanes and pilots. Gordon Campbell's wife and kids. Dogs. Very pleasant.
