Description: Someone got the good idea of using a backhoe to help out the turtles. I wonder if the trustees of the Mosquito Lagoon Aquatic Preserve know about this.

The 3500 acre preserve was established in 1970 and is home to the federally protected green sea turtle and the Atlantic saltmarsh snake. It includes an archaeological site known as Turtle Mound, the largest shell midden site on Florida’s east coast.

According to a Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (2007), shellfish aquaculture actually “adds value” to the Preserve. What would otherwise be a mosquito infested swamp is providing an economic stimulus for the state.

Is that a 4x4 or a hovercraft to the lower right of the excavator??

Or maybe an airboat (of a more conventional variety than SeaReys)?
