Description:
Air – smooth Engine – smooth Water – smooth Pilot – flying to get smoother
The Mirror By Richard Moore
The meticulous detail of the evening sky, just blobs, masses of color, in water beneath: gunmetal shades, cold Rembrandt yellows richly flecked with orange, and the
pinpoint exactness of the apartment house all streaked and mournful below itself in the pond’s vacancy, still and vibrant there. Is this why old men’s eyesight
blurs—so they may see at last the essential masses of things? And why art is never exact, why the greatest art is always simple,
careless even? And why, lost woman, our harsh, improbable detail becomes at last, in the imagination, a thing of mournful shadows endlessly undulating into darkness?
