Description: A Florida gar leaves a muddy track in the brown ooze. It is a scaly creature and the Florida Indians actually used the scales as spearheads.

Florida gar have an air bladder that allows them to breathe when the water gets too shallow and poorly oxygenated. That’s probably a good idea when you’re swimming in a foot of water above fecal ooze.

Gar roe is highly toxic….except to alligators. These 3’ toothy prehistoric monsters look plenty scary to SeaRey pilots probing the depths of algae pooh.
