Description:
Rat River SPB has a good gravel beach and a new wooden seaplane ramp. The folks were friendly, and the main proprietors are the Joyner family. David, the son, flies a Citation for MillionAir and is a seaplane CFI. His father is also a seaplane CFI, and his mom described herself as 'a commercial seaplane pilot.' There's a restaurant open for lunch on Saturdays and Sundays. 100LL is available upon request.
There was a seminar about protecting props from water damage, but most of it turned out to be a slide show of the speaker's business of rebuilding constant-speed props. It's quite a process!
We were the only non-local splashers, so we won the door prize for transient seaplanes--a huge totebag full of goodies from Wipaire.
And we came in second in the water balloon drop. (That sounds pretty good if you don't know that there were only two other entrants.)
They're planning to have the splash-in every year at this time, so you might want to look for news of it.

Don, I'm glad you got to go down to the splash in. This is where I got my rating, from David, back in 2003 and really wanted to attend but Linda drug (dragged) me to Paris for the week. Oh well, maybe next year.
