Description: Here I am... Flying towards my frends cottage. One nice thing with seaplane here in Finland is that we allways have a lake withing gliding distance. Thousands of lakes as you know... This one or is it one or many I really dont know is near Jyväskylä in middle of Finland. We have had quite foggy and limited visibility due to those Russian forrest fires for some days now even those are britty far a way.

Are all your Lakes open to Sea Planes?

Markku Salminen - Aug 11,2010   Viewers  | Reply
Yes, basically all lakes are open. There are some lakes where it's not allowed to use any motored vehicles, but those are really rare. Then there are some speed limits but those are only on that part that boats are using, so we can land outside of that area. Then there are some restrictions for using motorboats but not for seaplanes. Our citicen rights to use lakes are quite open. Of course owner of the beach can restrict beaching if they like. So basically 99% of all the water is open. And even that 1% can mostly be used because you have no resonable means of cheking those restrictions beforehand... But yes it's pretty free here to use all the water for what ever activity you like. It's not like that in every european country, ie. Germany only allows seaplanes in official seaplane bases and only two excists in whole country. Also Norway has lots of restrictions. But yes Sweden and Finland are really open for seaplanes.
