Description: This lonely little guy tried to make a go of it where none of the other young cypress would dare. He died all alone after he had his brief moment in the sunshine.

    'Quite a while' is a bit relative when you are talking about the life span of baldcypress, Ross. It can be hundreds of years and the base can be as much as 12' in diameter. This youngster with a girth of only 4' or 5' wasn't even middle aged in cypress years.

    Quite true, I believe that Cypress Trees only grow an inch or so a year, I have two in my back yard almost two hunded and fifty feet tall and still going....
