Description: Over the water we turned west toward the sun on the horizon beneath a dense cloud. The whiter light to the left is a beacon to help ships find the Benjamin Harrison Lift Bridge in the dark. 'Wake Island,' where Aventura Matt and I once learned about container ship wakes, is left of the beacon, and Tar Bay to the left of the islands.

The only camera I had was a lo-res one in an iPhone, but I hope Dan's big Canon got some really good photos. I'm not sure it managed to record the mean red lightning bolts we saw a few minutes later, though.

The lightning bolts were too fast for me, Don. Fortunately they were slow enough to miss us!
