Looks like a Short Sunderland - seaplane used for long range reconnaissance in WW2. I believe it had wheels used only for beaching, not landing. I confess to having an Airfix model of one when I was considerably younger! Maybe that's what started my sneaking regard for seaplanes....

But that's scary stuff... Is that Wellington, New Zealand or .....?

I found it in a thread called 'How low can you go?' on http://www.pprune.org/ but i can't find it now. It was at an airshow in England and the good new is they tied the record for low flying. The bad news was that they punched a bigassed hole in the hull and had to frantically come up with a way to seal it before landing. Can't recall how they did it.

land parallel with the shore (and really close) and step taxi until almost on the beach.

I believe it was holed on a water landing, I have landed on this runway many times.
The damage to the hull was slight.
I think this Sunderland is now in their Museum.
The croud gathered while they burnt off fuel.
Heard this many years ago, may not be accurate.
