Description:
All those Idyllic Fiji and Florida photos require a counterbalance in the Real World, where ugly stuff sometimes floats in frigid water. This is a small ugly--only about five feet long--but it could surprise an unwary Seaplane pilot, who probably would not enjoy swimming today. The air temp was 22F and the water, about 35. Yes, that's ice on the beach.

Don, what did you do with the log after you pulled it out of the water?

You want real world. Snow, cold and too slippery to pull the airplane back into the hanger; had to use the winch.<br />Just a couple of runs around the circuit to warm the engine up to drop the oil / sludge.

Hi Don, we hit a (just under the water) log on an OZ lake last week doing some training, broke a float support, glad it was the float & not the hull.
