Description: The ship was parked inside the Natewa Sector with a Flight Service Station nearby at Matei. It is considered a “control zone” requiring clearance to operate. I probably drove the poor guy crazy filing rapid fire flight plans for the scenic tours.

The helicopter took some passengers to see Laucala and the Red Bull resort. There was an immediate protest and the Flight Service guy warned us not to overfly the island. Apparently someone there thought helicopters and seaplanes full of paparazzi were trying to get photographs of one of the guests.

Who cares about the people when you are surrounded by such natural beauty? Whatever.

The owner of the resort on Matangi was angered by the restriction. He said the Red Bull resort owns a Citabria that flies over his island at low altitudes all the time. He was prepared to take issue with the controllers.

'Don't bother. Your island is prettier anyway.' That calmed the waters.

But not completely. It wasn't long before Matei Flight Service called the boat saying someone was using fabricated registration numbers for flight plans. He told the captain that N609MK and N601KF were both asking for clearnaces.

'Well, those are the two we have on the boat.'

'You have two? On one boat?'

'Well, yes.'

I'm not sure he believed the Captain's story.
