    I'm not knocking Eggenfellner's price of 14K , it's just sad that you can buy an entire Honda Fit car for only 16K.

    So... the car's only worth two grand without the engine, then, eh, Dave? One of our sons has a Fit and says he loves it. He just finished driving it about 4,000 miles to Denver and back, two days each way. Never got off the ground once, the whole trip.

    I was talking to Eggenfellner at the Expo and he was saying the you can get the Honda motor out of a junked Fit for $500.00.<br />He is charging $13,000.00 but for the Expo it was $12,000.00<br />At Sun &amp; Fun last year I got this leaflet and the Viking was $9,900.00      Attachments:

    I'm sure if Egg sold 2,000,000 conversions (estimate of worldwide Honda Fit production to date) his price would be a bit lower.

    Got mine for $10,400 including motor mount, radiator, muffler, etc. Try getting a Rotax 914 for that with all the necessary extras. Jan has been raising the price $500 per month as sales increase. He has a multitude of engineering and fabrication costs, plus he hasn't made a dime off the engine to date. If he tops out at $15,000 it will still be about half the cost of a 914. I have to take his side on this issue. Buy a Honda Fit and try to fabricate his engine and see what it costs you, what it weighs, and how long it runs. He has put years of research into this engine and hired several engineers to work with him. We all know what it feel like to get raped on the cost of a Rotax part. If you need parts for the Honda they are available at your local Discount Auto Parts. The most expensive part in his gearbox is $250. Think about the savings on TBO: Run it for 2000 hours, get a wrecked Honda Fit engine for $500, exchange Eggenfellner's parts and you've got a new engine. He says the key is to make sure the engine from the wrecked car has less than 10,000 miles, the original oil filter, and no visible damage. Send an oil sample for analysis and if it comes back good you're set. Every time I go to his shop I gain more confidence in him and the engine. He is open, honest and a perfectionist. He has been selling converted Subaru's for 16 years and he does all the test flying himself. He has over 250 hours on the Honda and has made improvements consistently. My LSX fuselage is in his shop for fabrication of the motor mount, via CAD system, and installation of the engine. Let's try and be optimistic,..........for a change. Fuel injected, 87 octane, 117 hp, 187 lbs, HONDA, what could be better? I know I sound like a salesman for him, but I'm not. I am developing great expectations for this engine, however.
