Description: On August 13, 2004,
Hurricane Charlie came
up the Gulf and turned
45 degrees toward Fort
Myers. It made landfall
first on the small Island
of Upper Captiva and
sliced it in half. Seven
years later the slice
channel
has been repaired by
nature but the
remnants of the former
Island remain as shoals
to the east of the
Island.
