Another housing development? Your aerial tours of South Florida are thoroughly enjoyable, Wayne, stirring memories of the good old days.

Back in those days my parents bought a little track house in a new development in the swamps of Naples. One morning I jumped off the top bunk and into 6' of water. 'Water in the house, mom! Water in the house!' Full house swimming! We boys thought that was great.

Apparently my parents didn't agree. We soon moved next to a canal in Naples. It was one Sunday after lunch and the preacher was visiting. That was a cue for us boys to get out of the house. My brother promptly managed to ride his bike right into the canal. Being the oldest, I figured it was my duty to make a report. 'Mom! Don drove his bike into the canal.' Mom was pretty cool about it. 'Did you get him out?' How silly! 'No, he was too deep!' That caused a mass evacuation of adults to the canal. I got a lengthy sermon on the responsibility of older siblings for pulling younger ones out of the water. Jumping in the water has been an automatic reaction to crises for me ever since.
