Very nice post. I looked at the blog and assembly of STS-135. I got to go on tour of the VAB in April for the STS-134 launch, but it scrubbed. Best that could've happened for me tho. I got to see Atlantis in it's hangar as well as the ET and SRB's in the VAB. Then I got to come back in July to see what I saw come together actually launch. The stars were alligned. It was the final launch (and all that implies historically), of something I saw very closely on tour, and it was my 50th birthday on the 8th when Atlantis launched. I can't explain how exciting all this was. One of the best events in my life. Sad to see it all end.

So now that there are no more Shuttle flights, how long will it be before ATC
resumes the Low Approach Shuttle Tour at KSC?

Never. Rights are rarely restored once taken away. Easier for a bureaucracy to say 'no' than 'yes'.

In 1975, I was designed part of the Space Shuttle engine controller while working in research and development at Honeywell Aerospace. For years, I have watched the program in awe as it fulfilled the dreams of millions of Americans and kept our youth inspired with a dream of exploring the unknown. It is very painful to see it die based on a myopic view of our destiny.

Marshall
